Gigs with Celebs this year

Well on the function circuit I play on, I often end up in the same room or (on the same stage if I’m lucky) with some household names – this year has been no exception.

In January we had the lucky opportunity to support Madness at the Grosvenor – another awards ceremony job in Park Lane – I do love celeb spotting! Paul Young came to our dressing room to tell one of the singers how good he thought she was – she was thrilled as you can imagine 🙂

In March I had the privilege of doing a show with Jonathon Ross again at The Grosvenor House Hotel with one of my regular function bands MIB, – Wossy was presenting the National Graduate Recruitment awards and much fun was had on the evening with him getting his audience members to re-enact the scene from Copacobana by Barry Manilow!

Later that month we were alongside 4 Poofs & a Piano in Northamptonshire at a corporate do – they were fabulous 🙂

May was a private party with special guest Geri Halliwell – our clients special gift to his lady wife who was celebrating her 30th Birthday…!

Last weekend was a highlight – I performed at the wedding of Barry McGuigan’s son, where Paul Carrack was a guest, and he got up on stage to play/sing a couple of numbers for us – what a voice !! – his song ‘How Long’ being sung back to him enthusiastically by all the guests! Barry also got up on stage and sung a couple too – he’s got a good voice!

Later this year I will be performing again on stage with Bobby Davro and guests for Bobby’s annual show in support of the hospice that housed his mum in her final weeks. Last years show was a sellout with guests Joe Pasquale, Gary Willmott, Gareth Gates and David Seaman to name a few!
