It's not uncommon for brass players who are used to the freelance world and the often solitary nature of this, to find a new and welcoming family in the world of brass banding. Such was the case when Vicky Flint came to Sovereign Brass; to return to her much-beloved Soprano Cornet seat.
Vicky's musical heritage is rooted in the brass band movement, having started on Cornet at age 10, she's kept banding close to her heart throughout her life. Post-lockdown in 2021, and after a relocation to the Midlands, Vicky was looking for the right band as a Soprano player, and Sovereign's timing was impeccable! :)
A Fusion of Award-Winning Talent
The award-winning West Midlands-based Sovereign Brass are fast becoming a renowned force in the Midlands region and beyond. During Vicky's tenure, Sovereign Brass have scooped multiple prizes in the contest arena, having won the Midlands Regionals in 2023 1st Section, going on to win the inaugural 'Constest' Birmingham Conservatiore contest a few weeks later, to the National Finals in Cheltenham later on in 2023 taking 2nd place, then promotion to the Championship section in 2024, and there, in the first year in the section, taking 4th place in the elite category.
Safe to say it's been a successful year all round!
